HAMOUN is a group of young and passionate Iranian artists, designers, and architects who actively explore the boundaries and interactions between the realms of art and design. Hamoun’s focus lies in Iranian aesthetics, striving to achieve a new level of design by redefining the contemporary Iranian lifestyle through their innovative creations. Hamoun is always trying to design objects that evoke a feeling in the audience and, in addition to functionality, give meaning to life, and are lasting and unforgettable in the human mind. This group has been focused on object and accessories design since 2017.

This piece is an abstract reading of Girih (knotting) in Iranian’s art and decoration. Girih has special and prominent role in historic memory of Iran. The ideation and presentation of this piece, the effort was to put the expansion system in a tangible and interactive way in relation to the user so that it can be perceived with a fresher expression. The mentioned system consists of several 3D-printed pieces and magnets. Magnetic attraction enables the pieces to coexist in both adjacent and stacked configurations, allowing the various components to either lie beside each other or be placed on top of another. This type of connection allows for replication in both horizontal and vertical axes, showcasing the Girih in two modes: ‘surfce’ and ‘mass’.
