Furniture line: Guardians, by Kamran Afshar Naderi, produced by Villa Sufia.
For millenniums, animals have been an inseparable part of the human life. Zoomorphic motives dominated the prehistoric art and have survived up until our era. Traditional crafts, such as carpet weaving and pottery, draw inspiration from the zoomorphic iconography. Positive human–animal relationships can provoke positive emotions, in fact, animals have been source of inspiration for many modern artists and designers.
The Guardians, is a limited-edition line of furniture, designed by Kamran Afshar Naderi and produced by Villa Sufia.
In designing Guardians, Afshar Naderi, studied the anatomy of the animals for creating objects that evoke energy and agility.
For instance, tables are usually among the most static furniture pieces of the house, yet the production of Black Panther, evokes movement.
The chair, called Jupiter (refer to Jules Verne’s novel of The Mysterious Island), resembles an ape that keeps on its knees the seated person.
These objects, belong to a set of furniture produced by state-of-the-art 3d printing system combined with fiberglass technology and hand crafting for the final refinements.
