Ahmad Reza Khalili and Roozbeh Sheikhha

January 15, 2025Admin

Ahmadreza Khalili: Ahmadreza Khalili, born in 1989 in Tehran, Ph.D. in Architecture with a specialization in Digital Technology. He is a faculty member at Islamic Azad University, South Tehran Branch, and teaches courses on robotics and digital fabrication at the University of Tehran and Pars University of Art and Architecture. He is a researcher in the fields of computational design and adaptive, interactive smart kinetic elements. He has experience conducting various workshops on computational design and robotics at universities and art institutions.

Roozbeh Shaikhha: Software developer and system analyst with a focus on simulating complex systems, process analysis, and discovering and optimizing behavioral patterns of systems. Holds a Ph.D. in industrial management and has a teaching background in artificial intelligence, programming, plugin development, system analysis, and simulation, as well as the development of robotic extensions.

One of the new challenges in the field of digital design and construction is the creation of repetitive geometric patterns that aim to interact with their environment using innovative technologies, such as robotics. These patterns can include smart and kinetic facades on the exterior of buildings or decorative elements like mirrors and objects that interact with the users of the space. An interesting aspect of these works is that most of them have two-dimensional shapes and are in the form of flat surfaces. Therefore, the proposed project seeks to use repetitive patterns in a non-flat geometric form as its initial idea. Based on this, the initial concept of this project is designed by patterning a geodesic dome. A geodesic dome is a spherical form composed of flat and repetitive triangular elements that, when placed together, create a domed shape. The primary goal of the project, considered its main challenge, is to create a dynamic pattern that can interact with its surroundings using digital and robotic technology.
